Il film successivo al blockbuster Halloween di John Carpenter, nel 1980, era basato su marinai fantasma che terrorizzavano una comunità costiera californiana mentre una densa nebbia scendeva sulle loro abitazioni.
Il regista dai molti talenti non solo scriveva e dirigeva i suoi film ma si creava anche delle colonne sonore con bande uniche di sintetizzatori. Questa versione aggiornata dell'edizione del 2000 Silva, oramai esaurita e tra le più ricercate ci offre non solo l'album originale con i suoi 20 minuti di musica in più ma un secondo CD da 20 tracce con la colonna sonora intera trasferita dai master originali, rimasterizzata da Alan Howarth, collaboratore di vecchia data di Carpenter.
