GDM music releases on CD the OST by Ennio Morricone for the dramatic movie ''Il deserto dei Tartari'' (aka ''Le desert des tartares''), directed in1976 by Valerio Zurlini and starring Jacques Perrin, Laurent Terzieff, Vittorio Gassman, Giuliano Gemma, Helmut Griem, Philippe Noiret, Francisco Rabal. Transferred to the borders of the Tartars' desert, lieutenant Drogo dreams of glory in battle, but when the Tartars arrive, old and tired by now, is carried away dying. One of the absolute masterpieces of Ennio Morricone (and also one of the favorite scores of the author himself) comes back on a digitally remastered CD. For this brand new edition a first generation master tape has been used in stereo and perfect conditions (containing the original 33 rpm material) and adding more than ten minutes of alternate versions with different orchestrations. This score explodes of adventure, loneliness, mysticism alternating a nostalgic main theme for piano and orchestra to dramatic and violent music and sometimes to suspended, almost magic music. |
