Film's Storyline:
Belli, assistant to the chief of the Geonoese Mobile Squad, is carrying out an inquest on a series of crimes committed by a drug-running gang. During the inquest Belli ruthlessly pursues Cafiero, an ex-Mafia chief from the United States, but Cafiero is very much the enemy of the new style of mafia, which he believes to be too unscrupulous and immoral. It is Cafiero who will ultimately supply Belli with a major key to the mystery of the crimes. Most obviously as a result of his helping with the inquest, Cafiero is murdered. Belli does not lose courage, even when his daughter, Anita, dies in a suspicious car accident. Although emotionally devastated by the loss of his daughter, Belli continues to press forward. He seems to posses an inhuman strength and resolve, and he ruthlessly turns the city upside down. Drugs are found in the most ingenious places. The noose is pulled tight in Marseilles, where Belli and his men intercept a drug runner and one of the gang chiefs, and it is Belli himself who eliminates the assassin who had earlier murdered his chief, Scavino. Finally Belli begins to experience some measure of cathartic release in that he realizes he has caused a near-fatal rift in the organization. His war-like crack down has resulted in the elimination of most of the mob’s middle-men. In the end though, perhaps Belli himself will be "whacked" before he can get to the leaders, the men at the very top of the crime cartel. Despite this constant danger, he will not turn back, for it seems he was not looking solely for revenge. Belli was, first and foremost, committed to doing his job, which was that of upholding law and order in a sick society.
