It's a pleasure for Saimel to present this CD with new recordings of some of the most important films of Spanish cinema of the last forty years. Coinciding with his 75th birthday, the composer José Nieto (El perro del hortelano, El rey pasmado, El caballero del dragón, Carmen, Juana la loca, Libertarias, La pasión turca, etc.) has created symphonic suites of some of their more important soundtracks.
Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de Granada has been commissioned to play them, providing us with a recording that gathers a significant part of the career of one of the most important Spanish composers of all time. José Nieto's compositions go through different musical forms, from the intimate tone of Amantes, to the strength of one of his latest compositions Tirant Lo Blanc. In Carmen he incorporates an Andalusian sound into the orchestra, in his work for television The Adventures of Pepe Carvalho he gets a dynamic sound that transmits to the listener, while in El Caballero Don Quijote he creates a melancholic score, which perfectly defines that knight-errant who created Cervantes.
