Palme d'Or at Cannes, nominated for an Oscar in 1964, won three Silver Ribbon and a David di Donatello, IL GATTOPARDO (aka THE LEOPARD), masterpiece OF Luchino Visconti, is adapted from the 1963 historical novel by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa. The music composed by maestro Nino Rota clearly occupies a central role, becoming a real star of famous scenes like the dance or in long monologues whose rhythm is punctuated by the epic notes of master Rota. Nearing 50 years, which will be celebrated in 2013, the soundtrack of the Leopard is one of the most successful examples of perfect synergy between music and image, creating one of the most famous epic of all time. IL GATTOPARDO (aka THE LEOPARD) is part of the 30 titles of the new Sugar series dedicated to the soundtracks that have made the history of music for films. The CD comes in a completely remastered version with a new graphic look, and it will be released March 13.
