MONDO CANE is a 1962 cult film-cumentary directed by Cavara, Jacopetti and Prosperi. Awarded at the 15 Cannes Film Festival the film was a huge international success. His score and in particular the song in the titles TI GUARDERO' NEL CUORE (in English MORE) by Riz Ortolani, Nino Oliviero and Marcello Ciorciolini won a Grammy and a Academy Award Nomination as original song. He became famous with the title MORE, the song has over a thousand recordings and performances by the greatest artists of all time (Nat King Cole, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra), 70 million records sold and in 2007 won the Special Citation of Achievement for seven million radio broadcast in USA. The film caught worldwide attention thanks to the innovative and brilliant soundtrack, starting a true cinematic genre of sensationalist documentaries, which became known as world movie, designed to impress the audience by showing customs of ethnic groups worldwide, and by highlighting the extreme, all the most unusual, bizarre and grotesque. MONDO CANE is one of the 30 titles of the new Sugar series dedicated to the soundtracks that have made the history of music for films. The CD comes in a completely remastered version with a new graphic look, and it will be released March 13. All the albums of the series are enriched by the words of the film producer and critic Marco Mueller, who is also the director of the most important festivals of the cinema, and he declared: "The films are the place where music becomes something different because it gained its own role within the whole. Without music films would be amputated of an essential and vital element. When it happened that an important composer has worked together with an important film director, an agreement gushed out between the two strong indipendent personalities, where a great music strengthened a great film and viceversa. The reasoned reproposal of the greatest titles from C.A.M catalogue will try to render account to this part of the adventurous history of the Italian films (and not only Italian). Proposing a shunting line from modern music, an alternative to light music. An whole continent to be ri-discovered". |
