Ad aprire la strada è l'influente e potente colonna sonora di Miklos Rozsa per l'altrettanto potente e influente classico di Billy Wilder, Double Indemnity del 1944, con Barbara Stanwyck, Fred MacMurray , Edward G. Robinson.Un tema principale che si sviluppa nella fase centrale della storia viene supportato da idee di suspense secondarie, un tema romantico e altro ancora. La leggendaria scena finale è accompagnata da ''So Long Keyes'' che introduce al fortissimo e angosciante '' Finale''. Quasi 39 minuti di intensa e magnifica musica firmate Rozsa. A seguire è la superba colonna sonora di Hugo Friedhofer per il film Ace in the Hole di Billy Wilder, con Kirk Douglas, Jan Sterling. L'intenso ''Prelude'', la malinconica ''Sand Trickle'' e la soffocante ''Platinum Blonde'' accompagnano le immagini drammatiche e un attenzione speciale la merita '' Grand Finale''. Sorry, Wrong Number del 1948, diretto da Anatole Litvak, e interpretato da Burt Lancaster e Barbara Stanwyck offre a Franz Waxman lo spazio per un intensa, e oscura musica di suspense. Appare anche un brano di Nathan Van Cleave.Segue la colonna sonora carica e drammatica diVictor Young per I Walk Alone, del 1948, diretto da Byron Haskin, con Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas. Trenta minuti di musica aggressiva e tra le musiche più potenti di Young. Desperate Hours del 1955 con Humphrey Bogart sopravvive in stereo, e vanta un insolita e ritmicamente potento colonna sonora di Gail Kibik con una traccia di Daniele Amifitheatrof. Leith Stevens dice la sua con l'oscura e agitata colonna sonora del 1956 per il film di Michael Curtiz, The Scarlet Hour con Tom Tryon, Carol Ohmart. La colonna sonora dispone anche della melodia della canzone originale del film ''Never Let me Go'' di Livingston / Evans. A completare la collezione emozionante sono tre spunti di Heinz Roemheld da Union Station (1950). Il set su 2 CD è stato ripristinato dai master originali su gentile concessione della Paramount.
