Nel 2010 celebrammo il centenario dalla nascita di Alex North con la pubblicazione della sua colonna sonora capolavoro, SPARTACUS!
Ora nel 2011 celebriamo il centenario della nascita di un altro immortale della musica da film, il leggendario Bernard Herrmann!
E' un omaggio che si è già svolto nel corso di questo anno con 5 pubblicazioni, Hour di Alfred Hitchcock, una edizione deluxe di The Egyptian, e un entusiasmante concerto a Tenerife al Fimucitè 5. Ora è tempo per il gran finale di questo 2011 dedicato a Bernard Herrmann ed è un progetto immenso! Concludiamo quindi le celebrazioni del centenario di Herrmann con la più importante raccolta di musica mai compilata sul Maestro: Bernard Herrmann alla 20th Century Fox.
Diciotto colonne sonore che rappresentano diciotti anni di collaborazione con la 20th Century Fox sono tutte qui incluse, ognuna di esse con un suono migliore di qualunque pubblicazione precedente!
Quattro colonne sonore compiono in questa raccolta il loro debutto su CD, The Snows of Kilimanjaro, White Witch Doctor, 5 Fingers e Hangover Square che mai sono state pubblicate prima di ora. Ma la prime pubblicazioni non finiscono qui.
La collezione inizia con una dei recuperi più significativi. Jane Eyre appare nella sua completezza per la prima volta, quasi doppiando in lunghezza le edizioni precedenti. Assieme ad un significativo miglioramento nella qualità del suono questa versione espansa rende l'opera una rivelazione, sotto ogni punto di vista.
Anna and the King of Siam era stato realizzato interamente nel 2000 ma è stato rimasterizzato ed incluso qui per completezza.
Una delle colonne sonore più amate di Herrmann, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, riceve qui un trattamento di favore, con materiale inedito ed una qualità audio stupefacente.
Le tracce bonus per la pietra miliare The Day the Earth Stood Still ci offre una traccia particolarmente fascinosa che ci dà l'impressione di poter ascoltare dal vivo la sessione di registrazione orginale.
I CD cinque e sei con le prime pubblicazioni di 5 Fingers, Hangover Square (famosa per il suo Concerto Macabre) e The Snows of Kilimanjaro sono importantissime anche sotto il punto di vista storico.
Nel disco sette abbiamo una versione espansa di A Hatful of Rain assieme alla prima pubblicazione mondiale di White Witch Doctor, una colonna sonora nota ed amata grazie all'inclusione in forma di suite in un album RCA Gerhardt.
Beneath the 12-Mile Reef ci offre una versione del suono migliorata ma nessun materiale inedito.
The Egyptian è in versione espansa rispetto alla nostra precedente versione deluxe di quest'anno ma il disco nove è realizzato per separare la musica di Hermman per questa colonna sonora composta in collaborazione con Alfred Newman.
Garden of Evil contiene significative aggiunte, circa 15 nuove tracce che non erano mai state pubblicate prima.
Fin'ora di King of the Khyber Rifles sono state pubblicate solo sei tracce su di una compilation. Qui ora disponibile l'intera colonna sonora, un recupero molto importante.
La precedente versione di Blue Denim era già completa, mentre Prince of Players è una colonna sonora sostanzialmente inedita in quando di 29 tracce solo sette erano state pubblicate precedentemente.
The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit viene estesa dalle otto tracce disponibili alle 21 di ora.
La nostra precedente edizione di Journey to the Center of the Earth era già abbastanza completa, qui sono state aggiunte alcune tracce prima di rimasterizzarla. La colonna sonora è un vero fiore all'occhiello.
8 tracce sono state aggiunte a Tender Is the Night, assieme ad alcune tracce bonus.
Tutto ciò si aggiunge a questa monumentale opera su Herrmann!
