Quartet Records, in collaborazione con il Gruppo Sugar, č orgogliosa di presentare la prima versione estesa su CD dell'epica partitura di Lee Holdridge del famoso fantasy d'avventura diretto da Don Coscarelli nel 1982. Registrato a Roma con i membri dell'Orchestra dell'Accademia di Santa Cecilia e Radio Symphony, Holdridge crea una colonna sonora incredibilmente potente ed emozionante dominata da un tema principale epico. La colonna sonora dispone anche di un bellissimo tema d'amore, spunti d'azione feroci, musica d'avventura e passaggi oscuri e mistici. Rilasciato per la prima volta da Varese Sarabande nel 1983. Successivamente č stato ristampato da CAM Records, e come album promozionale in coppia con la musica della versione TV della Beauty and the Beast. L'album ha subito alcune modifiche lungo la strada, in particolare, l'aggiunta drammatica di ri-scrittura di Holdridge del climax ''The Battle on the Pyramid'', versione che appare qui. Il montaggio espanso della Quartet č stato creato con i master superstiti della Cam, e con quelli in ottime condizioni del Gruppo Sugar, e si differenzia sia dal disco originale, sia dalla musica ascoltata nel film. Moltissima musica tagliata nel film. Masterizzato da Claudio Fuiano, il pacchetto per questa versione deluxe include un booklet di 20 pagine con note di copertina e analisi track-by-track a cura di John Takis.
