Beat Records is pleased to release
for the first time on CD the OST by Riz Ortolani for the dramatic comedy Porca
vacca, directed in 1982 by Pasquale Festa Campanile.
At
the time of the film's release, nothing came of this beautiful soundtrack by
Riz Ortolani. Thanks to the stereo master tapes of the original sessions, it
was possible to release the complete score for the first time. Riz Ortolani
composed and conducted an OST introduced by a rhythmic comic theme which is
reprised in a slow version with accordion After a cheerful introduction, the
orchestra describes the historical period of World War I, and the
military-flavored theme for trumpet and strings and is reprised by the
harmonica. The harmonica, guitar, piano and rhythm section perform a
folk-flavored motif perfect for the sad atmosphere of those distant days then reprised for harmonica alone. Dissonant
passages for strings create a tense and macabre atmosphere, (and the harsh
conditions of the war are underlined by dramatic passages with a little space
dedicated for a love theme. As a special surprise for fans of the legendary Renato
Pozzetto, we also include the popular songs of the period in which the story is
set, performed by Pozzetto and choir as they are heard in the film, all
arranged and conducted by M°Ortolani. With a duration of 54:59, this CD can
finally be added to your collection of works by the great composer.
