The film, directed by Edouard Molinaro, French adaptation of the homonymous play by Jean Poiret, won the Golden Globe for best foreign language film and received two Oscar nominations. The music composed by the great Oscar winner Ennio Morricone along with the movie became a cult ever internationally, thanks also to the memorable performances by Michel Serrault and Ugo Tognazzi. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES (aka IL VIZIETTO) is one of the 30 titles of the new Sugar series dedicated to the soundtracks that have made the history of music for films. The CD comes in a completely remastered version with a new graphic look, and it will be released March 13.
All the albums of the series are enriched by the words of the film producer and critic Marco Mueller, who is also the director of the most important festivals of the cinema, and he declared: "The films are the place where music becomes something different because it gained its own role within the whole.
