Film's Storyline:
The events take place during the 15 days preceding the outbreak of the second World War in 1939. This is the time when feelings run high, contrasts become sharper, love and hate are interwined with sex and violence, while the search for novelty, and a frantic haste before the start of the catastrophe, are an integral part of the way people beheave. Dark clouds are gathering over Berlin and it is in this context that we see Hans, a nobleman and major in the Wehrmacht; his wife Luise, greedy for men and power; Anne, tender hearted and with love for no one but Hans; Wieland, chief of the Gestapo, cold and ruthless in all understakings, together with his trusty Werner, a man of action devoid of scruples; Madame Vic, owner of the Tanzfest, the only place in Berlin where vice, sex and virtue could mingle, a paradise for rich industrialists, lovely women, diplomats and secret services. This in the epic tale of a period in the history of a nation that is due to become the most powerful in the world but contains in its interior the germs of dissent that will prove fatal in the near future. We have used the expression "epic tale" and with good reason: the events are pervaded by poetry, the opening towards noble feelings, an overwhelming rhythm, a series of emotions bound up with a sinful manner; it is a web of occurrences that emphasizes the value and highlight the qualities of the script based on the novel "E poi scoppiò la guerra" published by Bompiani
